Tips and tools to succeed in an online classroom

Tip #1: Try writing down notes, assignments, quizzes, tests, and due dates in pencil.

These days nothing is concrete, and due dates and information are bound to change.

Writing in pencil allows for changing, updating, and rewriting without making a mess with liquid paper.

Tip #2: Technology can be finicky, so make sure to check for updates, internet connection, battery levels, and have a back up plan if possible.

Logging into class early, and keeping in contact with other students and professors, will save a lot of stress later.

Also, finding useful apps and programs to help make classes easier is important.

Tip #3: Try finding a multi-pack with different colors to coordinate with classes to keep track of progress and important ideas.

Multi-colored highlighters, pens, and folders can help with organization as well.

Have fun with it!

Tip #4: Instead of writing down due dates, try writing an encouraging note on the board to help inspire working through the harder parts of the week.

A little encouragement can go a long way.

Tip #5: Sometimes easily forgotten, good lighting can make working online more comfortable and productive.

Certain lightings may be too harsh or too dim when working on a computer, and this can cause eye strain, sometimes leading to headaches.

Try moving to an area with better lighting or investing in new lightbulbs.
