Nine selfless acts you can do while in quarantine/self isolation

Updated: Apr 3, 2020

We all know it is hard to be stuck inside, and trust me I have counted how many outlets are in my room now. With all the things going on for others, maybe it's time we work on doing something together or for each other.

1. Get well soon cards for those infected by the virus.

It's hard to imagine what people are going though, and maybe even harder to know what their families are going through, but making cards or writing letters for those infected and effected can make a difference. When you are done you can mail them off to the local hospital or a wellness center to make sure they make it to the right people. 2. Make a video about your favorite science experiment or historical figure.

Help make learning fun for young adults right now that don’t have in person class. We all remember what it was like in World History or even on days where we couldn't experiment in Chemistry- so make it a little bit easier for those stuck in home.

3. Wish people a happy birthday on Facebook.

Up Coming Birthdays is a Facebook group that wishes people Happy Birthday. During this time t is easy to forget birthdays, anniversaries and even some holidays. Wish someone a happy something to help keep a feeling of normality. 4. Crafty for Change.

You all know we have that knitting craze right now, even if you are picking up on something that is not knitting maybe sewing, make some scarfs or blankets for donation. People that could use a nice cozy something to snuggle with right now.

5. Start a pen pal with someone.

You could write to your friends or family, I know I love postcards myself, or even the join the USF Pen Pal Program. This is a great way to make new friends and even stay in touch with old ones.

6. Do stuff for the little ones.

Put on a puppet show for your younger family members. You can even draw crazy designs for them and have free coloring sheets. This way you have your imagination flowing free and you are also keeping them active.

7. You can be IT

Help someone with that technology question they have head for a while now. You may not know off hand how to fix it, but you defiantly have the time now to search it up or find the resources to help further. 8. Magic Mechanic

Finally show them how to change a tire or check their oil. Hey. We are all stuck in the same place- learning is done in all kinds of ways. Simple testing on what the different lights mean or even getting some drive time in for those learning can get you out of the house and engaging. 9. Change it up and make a meal for them!

If you are with your family or friends get together and try a new dish together. Don’t know what to make? You can always bake Chef Boyardee or find a recipe.

Still out of things to do? You can do something for yourself. Self-care is a priority so take advantage of this time for you.
