Closing time: You Don’t Have to go Home But You Can’t Stay Here

As the fall semester winds to a close, the USFSP Housing Department reminds students of the expected check-out procedures prior to the hall closures for winter break. Here is what you need to know:

Time out.

Both the University Student Center and Residence Hall One will close December 14 at 11 a.m. and reopen at noon on Jan. 12, 2020.

Gotta Blast.

All residents are expected to vacate their rooms 24 hours after their last exam. Residents not returning in the spring or residents granted for a room change must completely check out of current room either by scheduling a time to check out with their Resident Assistant or express check out. The initial charge for late move out is $126 and compounds by the hour.

Make sure your room is ready.

Any rooms that do not properly follow the check out instructions are subject to cleaning or improper checkout charges. Residents discarding large items like rugs, personal furniture, or boxes must be taken to the dumpster. They cannot be left in the hallway.

Be aware of other campus office closures.

In addition to the residence hall closures, other facilities on campus will close for winter break. The parking services, financial aid, and cashier’s offices close December 20 and reopen Jan. 2, 2020 with their normal hours from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The fitness center will close December 22 and reopen Jan. 5, 2020. The last day the Reef will be open is December 13. It will reopen for dinner Jan. 12, 2020. The Cafes will reopen Jan. 13, 2020.
