I might have an unfair opinion since I just turned 21, but when I say being 21 is the best ever, I do not lie. Before we dive in, please be advised that alcoholism is a serious issue, so please drink responsibly and only if you are 21 and up.
Setting the scene:
You go out Friday night and want to have a good time, you start by buying you and your three friends a around of shots. Before you know it, you are closing your tab and have a $40 bill not including a tip. And because we are a part the millennial/generation z cusp, we know that anything less than a 20% tip is unacceptable, so now your bill is up to $48!
Who has that kind of money? I know I don't. As a solution, I have come up with a list of ways you can still have fun without breaking the bank.
1. When going downtown, look for specials!
No matter where you are, there is more than likely one bar (at the very least) that has a specials board at the front door.
2. Go to happy hour!
It might be a little late, but when you’re going out, typically you don’t have early plans the next morning. Take advantage of the discounted drinks! 2-for-1 or half price margaritas are a great way to go.
3. Drink beer!
Beer such as Bud Light and Natural Light is one of the least expensive options, all those craft beers and mixed drinks add up quickly.
4. Stay home!
If you don’t feel like going out or still want to hang out with friends but have a low budget, invite them over and play a couple drinking games! BYOB! Buying in bulk is way cheaper than paying for each individual drink at a bar.
