Sony wants you to stay home and play free games

In a new initiative to help people social distance through the COVID-19 pandemic, Sony will be giving away two free games on PS4 from April 15 to May 5 for Play At Home.

The first game is Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection. This is a compilation that includes remastered versions of the Uncharted trilogy from PS3.

The original games were created by Naughty Dog, however this collection for PS4 was developed by BluePoint Games. The Nathan Drake Collection contains three action packed, globe-trotting adventures by famed treasure hunter Nathan Drake.

Uncharted: Drake's Fortune is about Drake and the cast searching for Spanish treasure on a remote island. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves has the cast searching for the mythical kingdom of Shambhala in Nepal. Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception is about the search for the lost city the Iram of the Pillars which is known as the Atlantis of the Sands.

The second game is Journey from Thatgamecompany.

Another PS3 game remastered for PS4, Journey is about a traveler trying to make their way across a mysterious desert in order to reach a glowing mountain peak. The game’s online component allows you to collaborate with other players and form meaningful connections that will help you through the desert.

Sony plans on also helping independent game developers by creating a $10 million relief fund. Many game developers have to slow down production and work from home thanks to the virus. Financial relief will definitely help mitigate this.

“We know this is just one small step and we are thankful to be able to offer this support to our players, our communities, and our partners,” said Jim Ryan, president and CEO of Playstation.

Practicing social distancing and staying at home can be challenging for some. Other people do not have a lot of cash right now because they lost their jobs. Sony releasing free PS4 games is a great move that will help many people struggling right now because of the pandemic.
