With the holiday season right around the corner, this means that the college football season is quickly coming to an end. The South Florida Bulls are now sitting with a record of 4-6 after suffering back to back losses to Temple and Cincinnati. Their chances of making a Bowl appearance in back to back seasons are dwindling with each week that passes.

In order to become eligible for a postseason Bowl Game, a team must have as many wins as losses at a minimum. This would put South Florida in a win or go home scenario for the last two games of the season. The remaining matchups feature a conference game against Memphis at Raymond James Stadium before wrapping up the season in the “War on I-4” versus UCF in Orlando.

Before going in depth about the remaining games, let’s take a look at some accomplishments for our Bulls so far this season:

  • Senior Running back Jordan Cronkrite broke into the top 10 of the USF career rushing yards list.

  • Senior Mitchell Wilcox became the program’s career receptions leader at the Tight End position.

  • Heading into the final two weeks of the season, the USF defense has been able to hold their opponents to under 200 passing yards per game.

The Memphis Tigers travel to our house on Saturday November 23 to try and stay in the race for first in the West Division in the American Athletic Conference, as well as crushing the Bulls’ Bowl game hopes. This will be the first meeting between the two teams in three years, when the Bulls won in a shootout by a score of 49-42. This year, Memphis comes into the matchup ranked at number 18 in the latest College Football Playoff rankings.

The Memphis offense has shown all season that it is capable of putting up points quickly. In seven of their games this season, Memphis has been able to score at least 40 points. If the Bulls’ stout passing defense can shine in the spotlight once again, then we may have an upset on our hands.

UCF is a team that the Bulls are very familiar with and the War on I-4 will be played in Orlando this year on November 29. While the season for the UCF Knights has not been what we are used to seeing from them this year, they are still a very dangerous team.

In all of UCF’s wins this year, their offense has managed to score a minimum of 41 points. Their offense is still one of the most lethal in terms of yards per game (541.6) and points per game (44.8) and they lead many different stat categories in the American Athletic Conference. This game will remain close as long as the USF defense can get off the field while holding the Knights’ offense and the Bulls can find ways to march down the field and put points up on the board.

With Bowl season within our reach, we need to do our duty as students and fill that student section each and every game. Students at any of the three USF campus’ can log on to claim their free ticket. This can be done by logging onto usfbulltix.com on any computer or mobile device. Then follow the on-screen instructions to claim a single student ticket for any USF Bulls home game throughout the season.

We hope to see the student section rocking as the Bulls look to play a game in December for the second straight year!

Go BULLS!
